May God be gracious to us and bless us; may he make his face shine upon us

so that your way may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.

Psalm 67:1-2

Every year the 44,000+ churches that make up the Southern Baptist Convention take up an offering during December called The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Lottie Moon was a fascination woman and missionary to China. You can read more about her here.

This year's goal for our convention is $165 million. 100% of the money given to the LMCO supports the 3,700+ missionaries (and their 2,880 children) Southern Baptists have all over the world. They will spend the holidays, birthdays, and just average days away from home and family. This offering ensures that we will keep them on the field so salvation can be known among all the nations.

At Plymouth Park, we take up money for Lottie Moon all year throughout Unified Missions Offering. At the end of October, we have given $21,619.17 to the LMCO. I pray you will consider giving through our Unified Missions Offering or directly to the LMCO through PPBC this Dece

(1) Pray for the unreached and unengaged people of the world.

There are people with little to no access to the Bible in their language. They will live and die without hearing the name of Jesus and will spend eternity apart from Him. Pray our missionaries to reach them, and they are receptive. Pray that for yourself that the idea of unreached and unengaged people becomes totally unacceptable.

(2) Pray for the 3,700+ missionaries and their children from the hard work they are going.

Pray that God will strengthen their marriages, families, ministries, churches and that God will use them in a mighty way. Being a missionary or missionary kid is exhausting. There may be times where the question if they are effective. They need our supplication on their behalf. May we daily to commit to these beautiful hands and feet that take the good news to the ends of the earth.

(3) Pray for new converts.

Undoubtedly many who are reached will have to leave behind much of their life to follow Jesus. That may be relationships, friendships, jobs, etc. Following Jesus in many parts of the world is more costly than it is here at home. Pray that they find strength in Christ, and support from our missionaries as they grow in the faith.

(4) Pray about how you should give.

What can you give in addition to what you already give to the local church? It was once said, "it's not good news unless it gets there in time." The reality is it costs money to get the gospel to people. While we may not can do much by ourselves, together as a church and with 44,000 other SBC churches, we can do much. Let's be overly generous and exceed our goals for the sake of the souls of these people groups.

(5) Pray if you should go.

Is God calling you? To lead a mission trip, to help support a missionary, or to sell everything and go? Pray not why you should go, but why you should stay.

I love the LMCO, and I love the SBC. Southern Baptists indeed are Great Commission Baptists! Let's make it abundantly clear in our giving and going.
